Kyalami Corner provides race enthusiasts the chance to get up close to the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg on 19 November 2023

Kyalami, Gauteng – The iconic Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg kicks off at 5:30am on 19 November 2023 and spectators will get the chance to be part of the action as cyclists make their way past Kyalami Corner. This is the third year that Kyalami Corner will be providing a spectators’ viewing area.

This year sees the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg entering its 27th edition. Some participants choose to race for a reason, while others just want to get in the fun of the event. There are several races that comprise the Ride Joburg experience.

The main race is a gruelling 97 kilometres. There is also a 35 kilometre race, and kids can get in on the action too with races ranging between 1 kilometre and 5.5 kilometres in length. Several separate MTB races take place between 11 and 12 November as well.

Spectators can view the race from the upper level of the shopping centre where Kyalami Corner will set up a viewing area. Both seated and standing options are available. There is also a shaded area, refreshments, restrooms (inside the shopping mall) and goodie bags with all the essentials needed for the day of fun.

Kyalami Corner is a designated Vibe Zone, so there is a lot for enthusiasts, family and friends to enjoy. Refreshment stalls by retailers and restaurant specials will also be available, so that fans can enjoy their favourites while watching the ride.

Begonia Road will be closed for the day, restricting access to the upper-level parking entrances. Alternative access will be provided to the upper-level parking from the lower-level parking via Main Road.

Booms to the upper parking level will be closed, but the following shops will be open and trading on 19 November:

The 947 Ride Joburg cycle race has delighted fans for over 20 years. Each year thousands of cyclists take part in the race that takes participants around Joburg and Soweto.
