Kyalami Corner supported Greater Kyalami Conservancy (GEKCO) and Water, Amenities, Sanitation Services Upgrade Programme (WASSUP)

Kyalami, Gauteng – Kyalami Corner, a popular shopping destination in the Kyalami area, supported Greater Kyalami Conservancy (GEKCO) and Water, Amenities, Sanitation Services Upgrade Programme (WASSUP) as part of their Mandela Day initiative.

Both GEKCO and WASSUP are committed to helping improve amenities for disadvantaged communities in the Kyalami area. Other organisations such as Wot-If Trust and Sticky Situations also joined the initiative. This year the organisations  embarked on repairs and installation of toilets and sanitation. This is in line with Kyalami Corner’s environmental social and governance (ESG) strategy that embraces the United Nation (UN) SDGs hence, the need to get involved in this project which strives to improve the living conditions of the community.

The project revolved around refurbishing community toilets in Diepsloot Ext 1. Twelve toilets, taps and drains were repaired while two major streets were cleaned.

Skilled plumbers assisted the organisations in their refurbishment efforts, including Plumblink.

Kyalami Corner and organisers extend their gratitude to Plumblink, Wassup Diepsloot, Bontle Ke Tlago (Diepsloot), International Water Association, The Wot If? Trust, Peaceful Scapes, GEKCO Biodiverseity SANCA Central Rand Alcohol and Drug Centre (Diepsloot) and The City of Johannesburg – PickItUp – for their support and assistance in helping to create a safer, cleaner and functioning environment for the residents of Diepsloot Ext 1.
