Fundi celebrates teaching excellence with DBE at Free State Teaching Awards

Fundi has once again partnered with the Department of Basic Education (DBE) and other sector contributors to celebrate teaching excellence in the Free State. The provincial awards recognised the outstanding contribution of educators working across the Free State to shape, inspire and nurture the learners of today to be leaders of tomorrow.

Fundi recently joined local celebrations to support the DBE’s Free State Award Ceremony – contributing travel suitcases to the winners. The annual awards appreciate and acknowledge the region’s teachers and educators.

“We want to thank teachers in the Free State for their hard work, and to recognise their contribution to shaping our children’s futures,” says Sphiwe Masuku, Fundi’s Executive Head: Marketing. “We honour these women and men who often work in exceptionally challenging circumstances and who remain dedicated to teaching; to the learners entrusted to their care; and to our collective future by passing on critical skills and knowledge. These are our heroes – the teachers and educators who ensure that our children are equipped to reach for every success in their own lives.”

Already over two decades of local teaching excellence have been acknowledged through the awards, as part of the National Teaching Awards initiative. This sees teachers from across the country being recognised and celebrated. Events continue being held around the country as part of this national initiative, which was founded by the late Professor Kader Asmal in 2000 and which continues to be inspired by his vision.

“As Fundi, we remain committed to the Department and to its teachers’ success. We will continue to support their growth and development paths with our solutions – and are privileged to be part of these celebrations. We congratulate each of the winners and wish them every success going forward,” Masuku concludes.
