EMCSA 2023 Partners With State-of-the-art Event Venue For Its Highly Anticipated Hybrid Conference

The E-Mobility Congress of South Africa is pleased to announce its partnership with Century City Conference Centre for the 2023 hybrid conference, which will take place on the 18th – 19th of April 2023. The two-day conference will include a physical exhibition on both days.

Century City Conference Centre is situated in Cape Town, South Africa’s sustainable city and leader in green economy in the country.

“We are thrilled to partner with Century City Conference Centre for the EMCSA 2023 conference. The most anticipated e-mobility hybrid conference in the country, which is sure to be a memorable event to feature a panel of diverse and engaging speakers from both the transportation and renewable energy sectors,” said Robert Walker, Director of EMCSA. “Century City Conference Centre is situated in a city which supports sustainable development of the mobility sector. Meanwhile, the venue itself has environmental and sustainability initiatives to make it eco-friendly. This makes Century City Conference Centre the perfect host of the EMCSA conference, which promotes eco-friendly alternatives for transportation.”

The EMCSA conference is traditionally held in a virtual format. However, for the first time ever, the 2023 conference will be a hybrid event to extend its reach and provide participants with both physical and digital high-impact experiences.

The goal for EMCSA 2023 is to start conversations among other topics; in electric vehicle infrastructure, battery technology, local manufacturing of electric vehicles, issues of governance, skills development, job creation and effective policy development. The conference will also look at entrepreneurial initiatives that have set the path for electric vehicle’s future in the country. These topics will be discussed under the theme ‘South Africa, an EV Friendly Ecosystem’.

“We chose this theme in order to focus on the development and further growth of the e-mobility sector in South Africa. There are still challenges which delays the shift to mainstream electric vehicle adoption, however, the opportunities outweigh those issues. This theme allows us to tackle both the challenges and opportunities and what these mean for an EV ecosystem and the future of e-mobility in the country,” said Walker.

He added that: “We are delighted that the conference will be taking place at Century City Conference Centre for the next three years. As we share values with the venue, which is to protect the environment, this partnership will help us spread the awareness of sustainable mobility even further.”

Century City Square, the all green commercial and hospitality hub of Century City Conference Centre, has received a four-star green star rating from the Green Building Council of South Africa. The square is the first in the Western Cape, and the second in South Africa, to be awarded a

4-star Green Star. Century City Conference Centre also won the sustainable venue of the year award in Africa in 2019. The venue strives to minimise the impact of their operations on the environment and have implemented a number of policies and procedures to this end. Their sustainable practices include water management, recycling and waste management and various energy saving initiatives.

Century City Conference Centre uses solar energy and since it’s commissioning in July 2017, the solar system has produced more than 800 000 kWh of clean electricity, saving over 700 tons of carbon emissions. It is expected to generate enough clean electricity annually to reduce carbon emissions of the centre by 17 %.

‘’The objectives of EMCSA clearly aligns with our environmental sustainability objectives and it was an obvious decision to partner with this valuable conference. We are inspired by the conference goals to bring awareness, develop and grow the e-mobility sector in South Africa. EMCSA2023 will no doubt encourage dialogue and connect the right people, breaching the gap between intent and implementation,” said Kim Weber, Group Commercial Manager at Century City Conference Centre.

Registrations for speakers, delegates and exhibitors are open since the 29th of March 2022.

Sponsors are also invited to take part in the success of the event and form strategic partnerships to boost their brands exposure.
