LAST CALL FROM 67 LOGOS PARTNERS

Ensuring sustainability

The 67 Logos initiative currently running, and culminating on Mandela Day, has announced  a further move towards support for the SMEs who will benefit from the project.  Over The Rainbow – a partner in the initiative – will provide the 67 businesses with an SME boot camp and is calling on other small, medium and big businesses and private individuals who are looking for a way to contribute to Mandela Day to get involved by going onto a Go Get Funding page and pledging what they can to sponsor the cost of SME training.

The project – which has brought together some of the most creative teams in the country to design brand identities and logos (at no cost to 67 selected SMEs) has gained such momentum that the successful entrepreneurs will also receive training and services such as free web hosting.

“As big businesses are coming on board to fund the R 6 700 per entrepreneur required to get the entrepreneurs through a two-day business training programme, we have been made aware that many smaller companies and individuals would like to participate. With this in mind, we’ve launched the Go Get Funding page.

“We believe that the full package we are offering the 67 participating SMEs can make a real bottom line impact on these small businesses.  This translates to adding value to the economy and lowering the failure rate of entrepreneurs,” says Lesley Waterkeyn, CEO of Colourworks and the brainchild behind the 67 Logos initiative.

Adding her support to the project is dynamic entrepreneur, the only female Shark on M-Net’s Shark Tank, accomplished businesswoman and former CEO of the Imperial Group’s Car Rental Division, Dawn Nathan-Jones. Nathan-Jones, who is passionate about contributing to the economic growth of South Africa and who will be training the SMEs through the Over the Rainbow Foundation.

“The 67 Logo’s initiative in celebration of Nelson Mandela’s Centenary, has the ability to make a significant and sustainable difference to 67 entrepreneurs.  It aligns with Nelson Mandela’s legacy of alleviating poverty and creating jobs through empowering and inspiring others without expecting anything in return” says Nathan-Jones.

“I am privileged to be involved with the selected 67 entrepreneurs. Our aim is to give the small businesses an opportunity to build and scale these businesses. Sustainable growth in SMEs will no doubt create jobs, alleviate poverty and contribute to transformation and re-shape the economy for all South Africans. Our investment in and support of these entrepreneurs will create a platform for healthy growth and long-term prosperity and I encourage big business and others to come forward and pledge their support in mention of these SMEs” concludes Nathan -Jones.

The 67 designers will be coming together in Johannesburg and Cape Town for 67 minutes on 18 July to present their 67 logos for 67 high impact businesses. The SMEs will also be informed of their free training and web hosting.
