News Alert - Update to EduWeek programme: National Taxi Strike

Submitted by: Annie

EduWeek 2017 is taking place this week at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand (12th and 13thJuly 2017).  In anticipation of the South African National Taxi Council’s announcement that a nationwide strike might take place on 12th July, the organisers of the EduWeek event put plans into place to ensure the smooth-running of the event that would have been hugely impacted by this strike due to the location of the host venue being in the heart of the affected area.

Fortunately, the strike has been averted and the full EduWeek Exhibition and day-time programme of events will go ahead as planned on both the 12th and 13th July.  Unfortunately, due to security and logistical challenges, the EduWeek Awards Gala Dinner has been postponed to October 2017, to coincide with the inaugural Cape Town EduWeek event.

EduWeek would like to apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment caused by this alteration to the schedule. However, these were exceptional circumstances beyond their control, caused by the proposed strike and this decision was made in order to put the safety and comfort of visitors, clients and staff first.
