Get Your Groove On At Bay Harbour Market

Submitted by: Ian Dickinson

For delicious cuisine, awesome art and crafts, funky fashion and superb SA music, head to the Bay Harbour Market this weekend.

Taking to the Brampton Sound Stage on Friday September 14 is upbeat 7-piece ensemble the Swingsetters. This unique band blends swing, blues and rock & roll to produce a bubbly sound that will have feet tapping and heads bopping. Formed in 2009, the band is made up of seven highly trained and accomplished musicians who have all had success in local and UK based bands. Get your dancing shoes out for this one!

On Saturday September 15, eclectic jazz band Nossa Vida brings a blend of well-known jazz standards, bossa novas, Spanish guitar pieces, originals and Portuguese traditional songs to the stage. The acoustic guitar duo, comprised of Keith Macfarlane and Alan Bowen (Father and son-in-law), is no stranger to the stage and should add to a blissful relaxed Saturday at Bay Harbour.

Ending the weekend off on Sunday September 16 is indie folk and blues artist Fiona Jean Hare along with accomplished SA singer Jodi le Roux. Influenced by everything from Bob Dylan to Led Zeppelin, Fiona took to playing the drums and didgeridoo and later expanded her skills by learning to play the darbuka drums from the Bedouins in Sinai, Egypt. Soul singer Jodi le Roux hails from KZN's Pietermaritzburg and has an extensive musical history having teamed up with local PMB bands Tonic Azure and the Gloucester Blues Project.

The Bay Harbour Market, Hout Bay also showcases over 100 stalls featuring arts, crafts, fashion, decor and delicious cuisine.
