Johannesburg, South Africa – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Locally made film The Honeymoon has received an official selection from the Pan Africa Film Festival. Committed to showcasing and preserving the cinematic creativity of Pan-African Culture through the exhibition of film, visual art, and other creative expression, PAFF recently announced its film festival selection with The Honeymoon being one of the official entries.  The festival, now in its 31st year, will open on the 9th of February and run until the 20th of February in Los Angeles, California.

Starring leading ladies Kajal Bagwandeen (Kat), Tumi Morake (Noks) and Minnie Dlamini (Lu), The Honeymoon tells the story of a bride-to-be who is left devastated when her fiancé calls off the wedding the night before she walks down the aisle. Reluctantly, the disenchanted Kat jets off to the tropical island of Zanzibar with her two besties where the three thirty-somethings turn her would-be honeymoon into an epic girl's trip. Misadventures abound as the group of friends throw caution to the wind with wild nights out and beach days under the Zanzibari sun. Against the backdrop of paradise, the three friends journey into their individual depths and find that sisterhood and friendship are what keeps them together.

Written and Directed by Bianca Isaac, who previously sat on the Director's chair for her debut local production 3 Days to Go, and produced by Gregory Mthanji; The Honeymoon will release in local cinemas on 31st March.

“The KwaZulu Natal Film Commission congratulates The Honeymoon team for their official selection at the  Pan African Film Festival (PAFF). This is a beautiful story that not only resonates with females, but will capture the attention and resonate with both local and global markets. As we prepare for the national premiere of the film scheduled for the 31st of March, this is a great motivation for everyone in South Africa to watch the film. I would like to encourage the general KZN film industry and aspiring filmmakers to continuously engage with the KZN Film to benefit from myriad programmes we offer with the objective of honing their skills and providing funding, “says Mr. Victor Senna, Acting Chief Executive Officer.

NFVF Chief Executive Officer Makhosazana Khanyile, “The National Film and Video Foundation  (NFVF) is excited with The Honeymoon’s recognition by the internationally acclaimed Pan African Film Festival (PAFF), and its selection as the Official Selection for their 2023 festival. This recognition affirms our belief in local talent and the travelability of South African content. The NFVF congratulates the cast and crew and wishes them well for their festival run this year.”
