The Maponya Mall battle of the braais, the ultimate family braai off challenge

On the 24 September between 11H00 & 15H00 we are lighting up our flames in honour of Heritage Day and celebrating with our community in the battle of the braais challenge!

Whether you call it a Braai, Shisanyama or Ukosa it means the same thing to all of us, it’s a time to come together, cook together, share our stories, and celebrate our religion, culture, and diversity around warm open flames. We are looking for 6 families to come together under the sun at Maponya Mall and braai off in celebration of togetherness, diversity, and unity.

Get your braai tongs ready, gather your family and compete for the title of the ultimate braai masers AND WIN R9,000 in cash.

Braai Off Challenge prizes:

• 1st Prize: R5,000
• 2nd Prize: R2,500

Winner announcements will be made on the 16th and 19th September

6 family teams, one challenge in the ultimate battle of the braais competition where you can proudly represent your culture and earn the title of the Maponya Mall braai champions. The top 6 inspirational stories will be picked as the final contestants to compete in this lit competition, so come together and share your heritage story with us!

Bringing you and your family free entertainment while celebrating diversity with local flava’s from your very own community entrepreneurs selling their hand made, locally produced products and to add some extra braai spices were bringing you homegrown entertainment from local cultural acts, Marimba dancers and a local Soweto Band plus S’mores for the kids and some rides too.
