Dream Boy- National Arts Festival Grahamstown

Durban actor debuts Dream Boy at 2012 National Arts Festival Grahamstown.

Stallone Santino (20) makes his way to perform at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in June 2012.

Dream Boy; a one man show encompassing an intriguing storyline of a teenage boy who has a dream of being an actor. Stallone is an 18 year old matric graduate, passionate about studying drama, but has to face the wrath of his mother’s opposing view. In dispute, he is left with an ultimatum. In a matter of haste, the over-eager teen chooses in his favor, in an attempt to overcome the challenges faced at home, yet most importantly, to fulfill his passion of becoming an actor. An array of obstacles are encountered by the protagonist and is compelled to the place of choice, yet again. A thrilling twist to in the narrative that will leave the audience surprised and wondering.

Produced by DarNak Media with Darrel Nakul, Directed, written and performed by Stallone Santino, the riveting play takes the audience on
a journey of struggle, melancholy and anticipation. A great sense of stereotypical South African characters are presented, incorporating vernacular languages, diverse accents, along with an interesting sense of humor that will have the audience entertained till the very end. The play incorporates elements of poetry, narratives, dance and song that is structured to enhance the theatre experience and suit a variety of audience members.

Dream Boy, inspired by true events will take place at the National Arts Festival from the 28-30 June 2012. With a total of 5 performances spread across the weekend, the public can enjoy this one hander which is suitable for the whole family. Tickets will be sold at R50 per person with discounts and concessions to students and pensioners. Tickets will be available through computicket in early April.
