Throughout the four-day Comic Con Africa festival, taking place at the Johannesburg Expo Centre from 22 to 25 September, fans will not only be treated to the vibe of the up-beat gaming and party environment in Gaming Hall 7, but also from the Røde StreamerCon Stage, fans will enjoy the stimulating programme that will expertly address hot topics within the industry.

The pandemic inspired an explosion of content creation in South Africa and the rest of the continent. Over the past three years, there has been a boom in high quality content, and a surge of private and professional interest in ‘how’ to become a content creator.

“StreamerCon is going to be a unique event where we celebrate the best of our local content creators and recognise their incredible contributions to this segment. We’ve created a dynamic and relevant showcase at Comic Con Africa where people will get to experience all aspects of content creation and see it first-hand,” said Rene Staack, Comic Con Africa General Manager.

StreamerCon’s Spotlight Guests include fan favourites like ConCon (Youtuber), NaturalCauzes (YouTuber), Spyro_ZA (Twitch Streamer), JowyBear (Twitch Streamer), RustyPieLover (Twitch Streamer), Bumfluffski (Twitch Streamer) and Wizard of Oz (Twitch Streamer), to mention a few.. RØDE’s guests include Jon Savage, Rob Forbes and Gavin Kennedy who will be talking about podcasting and the industry around it.

In addition to this epic line-up, StreamerCon will feature an additional 36 dynamic content creators with various audiences and audience sizes on the content programme. And for those who might not be able to physically attend the event, there will be tons of interactive content opportunities to engage with creators online.

Something that will delight fans will be the first ever StreamerCon Showdown. Fan favourite RustyPieLover will be the host, as content creators from various platforms take on one another in a series of friendly tournament style knockout rounds, competing to be crowned as the first ever StreamerCon Showdown Champion. Creators will climb the ranks as they take on and eliminate one another, playing top Nintendo Switch titles.

Content Creator Alley is the place to visit and meet content creators or buy their merchandise. Selfie Alley is where fans can create memories to commemorate your Comic Con Africa weekend. StreamerCon also allows guests to engage their audiences and create content live from the show. Any streamers visiting the show can now book a slot to stream out to their channel and share some incredible highlights of their experience at Comic Con Africa from the StreamerPODS. There is no requirement to enter other than a channel and enthusiasm!
