Bay Harbour Market Visitors help School Food Garden Thrive

Written by

Viola – Queen of the Bay, ambassador for social change at Bay Harbour Market, has raised R2, 500 courtesy of market visitors on her mission to help with the expansion of the Sentinel School Food Garden in Hangberg, a project led by THRIVE Hout Bay.

Says Anthony Stroebel, co-founder of Bay Harbour Market, “We are extremely grateful to be in a position to support THRIVE Hout Bay and their vision of sustainable change. We would like to thank the wonderful people who supported the cause and helped raise funds.”

THRIVE Hout Bay is a recycling community-based organisation that aims to teach individuals and businesses how to live sustainably.

Says Bronwen Lankers-Byrne of THRIVE Hout Bay, “We would like to thank Bay Harbour Market for their tireless efforts in raising funds for our project. With the new vegetable garden, the school kitchen will have a fully sustainable vegetable garden no more than 10 metres away. The fresh produce will ensure the health and happiness of the children at Sentinel School. We are very proud to be associated with Bay Harbour Market and always appreciate their support.”

Sustainable change is an ethos that Bay Harbour Market proudly lives by. Bay Harbour Market has a commitment to recycling and works hand in hand with traders and THRIVE to raise consciousness on sustainable living.

Bay Harbour Market is open from 5 pm to 9 pm on Friday; from 10.30 am to 6 pm on Saturday and from 9.30 – 4pm on Sunday. Entrance is free.
