Competition launched to win a Barbie™ Premium Experience for local family of four

Johannesburg, August 6th, 2013 – Demand for family-friendly cruising is on the rise, and Royal Caribbean International’s Premium Experience is just one of the line’s offerings that make children’s cruise experiences utterly unforgettable.

“More and more parents are realising the incredible value of exploring the world as a family, that only a cruise can offer so comprehensively,” said Tracey Krog, marketing manager for Cruises International, which represents Royal Caribbean International and a number of other luxury cruise lines.

“There’s the opportunity to conveniently visit several destinations in one holiday, the wide variety of on-board facilities and activities aimed at adults and children alike, and the very safe and secure environment of the ship.”

“While the cruise lines we represent generally offer a wide variety of compelling and supervised on-board activities for children, Royal Caribbean’s Barbie™ Premium Experience takes it to a whole new level. The various Barbie-themed activities, décor and even keepsakes will leave girls with memories they’ll treasure for life,” Krog said. “This also gives their parents plenty of time to relax and enjoy what the ship has to offer them.”

The Barbie™ Premium Experience package is another product of Royal Caribbean International’s celebrated 40-year legacy of cruising innovation. The experience begins in girls’ Barbie-themed staterooms, where they’ll also find complimentary Barbie™ dolls and other keepsakes.

Their on-board activities include a tiaras and teacups party, featuring a whimsical palate of pink pastries and pink lemonade served on dainty dishes, along with fun tips on table etiquette. There’s a mermaid dance class, where girls will learn moves from the hit movie, Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2.

They’ll then learn to create their very own Barbie-style clothing at a fashion designer workshop. Later they will star in a fashion show, where they will display their fashion creations and perform their dance routine to the admiration and applause of their family and friends.

“Barbie™ is still one of the best selling toys in the world and her glamorous lifestyle continues to captivate young girls,” said Chantelle Lamprecht, licensing co-ordinator for Blue Horizon Licensing, which represents Mattel brands consumer products in South Africa.  “The Barbie™ Premium Experience is an excellent concept – just imagine the excitement of a little girl at her own Barbie-themed party and multiply that by the thrill of an action-packed cruise.”

Barbie apart, the cruise line offers families a mind-blowing range of youth programmes and facilities that guarantee entertainment, unique experiences and memorable moments for the entire younger generation, from tiny babies to teens. Royal Caribbean International’s extensive youth curriculum has made cruising an attractive and wildly popular option for families.

The Royal Babies (ages six to 18 months) and Royal Tots (ages 18 to 36 months) programmes offer interactive and enriching classes and play sessions. While parents need to attend these, the Babies and Tots Nursery offers parents a drop-off option in the daytime and evening and Sitters at Sea provides babysitting services.

The Adventure Ocean® youth programs include Aquanauts (ages 3-5 years), Explorers (ages 6-8 years) and Voyagers (ages 9-11 years). With their range of activities, not only will your children's time on board be fun, it will be educational too. The DreamWorks Experience gives children the chance to meet and enjoy fun activities with their favourite DreamWorks characters

The Tween and Teen Programmes provide teen-only spots where they can enjoy games, sports, parties and more, while still giving teenagers the freedom to come and go as they please.

Now, to bring family-friendly cruising to the attention of South Africans, Cruises International, Royal Caribbean International and Blue Horizon Licensing are offering families the chance to win a seven-night MediterraneanBarbie™ Premium Experience cruise for four on board Royal Caribbean International’s Liberty of the Seas, sailing from Barcelona. Barbie™ product hampers to the value of R20 000 can also be won.
