HOUT BAY, WESTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA, 17 JANUARY 2013: Make a trip to Cape Town’s most vibrant market this weekend for world-class music, fantastic food, and an array of goodies for sale.

Friday nights are all about unwinding after the week’s work is done and what better way to see in the weekend than a trip to Bay Harbour Market for Friday Nite LIVE! Audiences are in for a treat on January 18th when world renowned Johnny Clegg Drummer Barry van Zyl teams up with eclectic percussionist Daniel Bloem for a unique rhythm session that is sure to impress.

Drummer, percussionist, producer, composer and entrepreneur Barry van Zyl studied at Drumtech in London and at The Musicians Institute in Hollywood and has been a member of the Johnny Clegg band since 1999. Recent highlights include working with Annie Lennox, Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Brian May, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Jimmy Buffet and Oliver Mtukudzi.

Daniel Bloem is a self-taught percussionist who began his musical career at the tender age of four. He has since spent many years traveling the world, sharing the stage with a wide variety of accomplished musicians. He composes his own rhythms using an array of percussion instruments and has developed a style unique enough to call his own.

This is a duo you don’t want to miss!

Hitting the stage on Saturday January 19th is upbeat, blues/rock band Ann Jangle. Influenced by the likes of blues greats Robert Johnson and Etta James, blended with the rocking sounds of J.J. Cale and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, this unique band will have audiences tapping their feet and bopping their heads. With a versatile sound that combines blues and rock with a touch of 40s swing, Ann Jangle is steadily making their distinctive mark on the South African music scene.

The Bay Harbour Sound Stage comes alive on Sunday January 20th with accomplished multi-instrumental vocalist, Sven Blumer. Sven has been active in the music industry for many years, performing live and doing session work as a guitarist as well as tutoring aspiring musos. He draws on his love of cultural diversity and varied genres of music, which is highly influenced by the different countries in which he grew up. Sven’s music is rooted in blues and rock, with folk and jazz sensibilities.
