Menstrual hygiene management remains a significant issue, particularly in marginalised, underserviced communities where girls and women face limited access to safe and affordable sanitary products.

According to Ms Tema, Life Orientation educator at Moletsane High School, this environment can severely affect the futures and access to opportunities for girls and women. “For many girls, access to sanitary products can be the difference between passing and failing school,” she explains.

Feminine hygiene product advancements have created a profound opportunity to bridge this gap of access. In an effort to contribute to more inclusive and equitable communities across South Africa, SAPRO, together with Woman's Warehouse, have demonstrated the lasting impact that reusable and eco-friendly alternatives to traditional sanitary products can provide.

The brands recently rolled out a menstrual cup outreach programme, which has so far reached 650 girls, in grade 8 to 12, at Moletsane High School in Soweto.

“We are proud to have collaborated with Woman's Warehouse and Moletsane High School, with the shared goal of improving the quality of life, well-being, education, and opportunities afforded to our country’s girls and women,” says Inneke Zulch, Key Accounts Manager at SAPRO.

“To witness the gratitude and joy on the faces of these young girls was humbling. We are reminded of how truly blessed we are to have the opportunity to make such a meaningful impact,” says Gin McLellan, Director at Woman’s Warehouse.

“By coming together, we have made a tangible difference in the lives of countless young girls, empowering them with sustainable solutions and ensuring their dignity and well-being. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in this impactful endeavour,” Zulch concludes.
