Lancet Laboratories Zambia Announces The Opening Of A New Laboratory To Enhance Diagnostic Capabilities In Lusaka Province

Johannesburg - November 2023

Lancet Laboratories Zambia is proud to announce a new addition to its healthcare services in the region with the inauguration of a cutting-edge diagnostic laboratory within the Health and Wellness Centre, located on Kafue Road; approximately 18km out of Lusaka CBD.

This expansion emphasises Lancet Laboratories Zambia's commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility and diagnostic capabilities in the  District and beyond.

Alzera Hussein, General Manager of Lancet Laboratories Zambia, stated "We are excited to strengthen our diagnostic capabilities in the  District. This will not only create employment opportunities, with the addition of four highly skilled positions but also improve the level of service we provide to our valued customers in the region. This investment marks the beginning of a new and exciting period for our operations in Zambia, and this laboratory shows our commitment to delivering a full range of services within the country."

The location of the laboratory was carefully chosen to offer convenience and ensure easy access for the community, particularly those not based in the central business district (CBD). This accessibility will greatly benefit local residents and anyone who would otherwise suffer from prolonged travel times due to traffic congestion in and out of the CBD. It reflects the organisation's long-standing commitment to advancing care and enhancing patient outcomes.

The 100sqm new laboratory offers spacious customer consultation rooms and is equipped with high-quality automates, such as the Elitech Solution for Chemistry testing. This technology allows for customised and comprehensive panels of tests tailored to each patient's unique needs. Alzera Hussein emphasized, "Such technology provides precise, consistent and reliable results over time, which is pivotal for us in building trust and confidence with our patients."

Beyond traditional diagnostic services, the new laboratory will focus on promoting preventive healthcare and early diagnosis through regular screening. Lancet Laboratories Zambia is devoted to assisting the local community in better managing chronic diseases and improving overall health. Hussein added, "The high prevalence of chronic diseases necessitates our attention, and we have a role to play in raising awareness about the benefits of early screening and disease management. Empowering patients with knowledge about their health status is crucial for them to make informed and healthy lifestyle choices."
