SASKO makes a difference this World Food Day
Submitted by: MyPressportal TeamFriday, 16 October is recognised internationally as World Food Day, with people from around the world coming together to declare their commitment to eradicate hunger. Locally, SASKO is donating a total of 10 000 loaves of nutritious Low GI bread, and 6000kg of SASKO Cake Flour to FoodBank SA to assist with its drive for food donations this year.
FoodBank SA will donate food items to non-profit community-based organisations across the country. These organisations include early childhood development facilities, homeless shelters, soup kitchens and schools, which will in turn serve over 110 000 people during this time.
Le-Anne Engelbrecht, marketing manager of SASKO, says; “11-million South Africans are currently food insecure, which means they do not know where their next meal will come from. We applaud the work being done by FoodBank SA, not only on World Food Day, but throughout the year as they aim for a country without hunger.”
