Toast to the Festive Season at Grande Provence

Perfectly situated in the heart of the Franschhoek Wine Valley, Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate presents guests with superb food and wine experiences over the festive season, created by the Executive Chef, Darren Roberts and his talented culinary team, impeccably accompanied by award-winning Estate wines created by Winemaker, Jaco Marais.

These extensive menus reflect the season’s spirit as well as pay homage to many traditional festive favourites. Award-winning Grande Provence wines are also a feature of dining at ‘The Restaurant’, which is internationally acclaimed for its extensive repertoire of accolades.

Christmas Eve Dinner on Saturday 24, December, presents guests with fine Estate wines upon arrival offered in ‘The Angels Garden’ at 18h00. At 19h00, an extravagant six course menu will be presented at ‘The Restaurant’ where Darren and his team have created a unique combination of dishes to ensure that Christmas is celebrated in style. Indulgent menu options include amuse-bouche – scallop ceviche with vegetable tagliatelle or gateau of ham and turkey rillettes, goji berry chutney and apple jelly or masala marinated quail, spicy dhal, XO lime pickle, beetroot raita, cumin paneer with honey butter and greens.

Crème of green pea, potato tortellini and crispy Parma ham, chilled papaya and mint or slow-cooked duck, grilled lobster, green olive, dates, sweet corn polenta, walnut arancini poppers with chutney jus are the order of the day amongst other decadent dishes. Mouth-watering desserts include traditional Christmas fruit pudding, brandy crème Anglaise, rum butter ice cream or banana parfait, Valrhona chocolate mousse, salted caramel with peanut brittle and marshmallows. Costs R500.00 per person excluding beverages, other than complimentary arrival drinks.

Christmas Day Lunch - Sunday 25, December, offer Estate wines served on arrival in the shade of ‘The Angels Garden’ at 12h00 with live musical entertainment creating a festive ambiance. At 12h30, the above menu will be served at ‘The Restaurant’ which promises to provide a superb festive repast for family and friends. Costs R690 per person excluding beverages, other than complimentary arrival drinks.

Christmas Day Dinner presents guests with Estate wine on arrival at 18h00 to be served in The Angel’s Garden. At 19h00, guests will enjoy this six course menu paired with fine wines from the Estate’s signature wine collection. Costs R500.00 per person excluding beverages, other than complimentary arrival drinks.

Celebrate the arrival of 2012 in true Grande Provence culinary style with an elaborate seven-course New Year’s Eve dinner with a welcome drink - chilled sparkling wine and oysters served on arrival at 20h15 in The Angels Garden. At 21h00, guests will dine on the extensive seven course menu. The evening promises plenty of fun with musical entertainment creating a celebratory mood while guests bid farewell to 2011. A complimentary glass of chilled Champagne is available to ring in the New Year as the countdown begins. Dancing continues after countdown and the bar service will be available. Indulgent menu options include sugar-cured Norwegian salmon, Waldorf salad with lemon bergamot or duck prosciutto, baby salad leaves pomegranate vinaigrette. Foie gras, grilled oranges with orange jus or chicken and wild mushroom terrine are amongst the delectable dishes available. Cost R790.00 per person excluding beverages, with the exception of the complimentary arrival or countdown Champagne.
