The most affordable fax service in South Africa

Written by
{pp}It’s about time that South African fax users are informed of the real cost of sending a fax to a conventional “0866” fax-to-email solution.

Virtual Fax and ECN have signed a partnership agreement to bring the first 087 based fax-to-email solution to the South Africa market. The Virtual Fax solution not only raises the bar from a technology perspective, but also significantly reduces the cost of sending and receiving faxes.

Whilst true fax-over-IP has not previously been available in South Africa, Virtual Fax and ECN’s combined technology now makes that possible.

“Organisations in South Africa would like to see a reduction in the cost of doing business, including the cost of sending and receiving faxes and this is exactly what the Virtual Fax/ECN solution offers,” says Ruaan Nel, founder and CEO of Virtual Fax. “It is now possible to send a fax at a lower cost than using a conventional land-line via a normal fax machine or via the 0866 fax-to-email platform.”

Virtual Telecomunications is well known in the industry for products such as Virtual SMS (VSMS), Virtual Image (VImage), and Virtual VOIP. “We are very excited to work with ECN,” says Nel. “By teaming up with ECN we are able to provide much more functionality than the traditional fax-to-email solution.”

The new fax solution available through the Virtual Group and ECN offers the following benefits:

 ·         Automatic Archiving

Virtual Fax provides powerful document archiving capabilities. Incoming faxes are immediately stored, indexed and can be retrieved via any web browser as JPEG, GIF, PDF or TIFF files.

 ·         Total Fax Tracking

Modeled on the browser-based tracking systems used by courier companies, Virtual  Fax tracks incoming and outgoing faxes before, during and after transmission. This includes arrival confirmation, time of delivery, undeliverable notification, alternate fax numbers, transmission replay information and much more.

The additional services provided by the Virtual Fax solution goes way beyond just receiving a fax via e-mail as an attachment, Virtual Fax provides a total fax solution; not just a basic fax-to-email option.

“Customers are tired of high prices and legacy technologies,” says Nel. “The Virtual Group understands that fax customers want simplicity and the lower costs associated with today's leading edge technology.

“Many people who subscribe to conventional fax-to-email services are unaware of the high cost of sending a fax to a conventional 0866 fax-to-email number (R1.82 per minute including VAT). Virtual Fax subscribers  can now enjoy an enhanced service at half the price (R0.91 per minute including VAT).”

“We are delighted to enter into this partnership with the Virtual Group and believe that the combination of ECN’s Next Generation Network capabilities and Virtual Group’s Fax over IP technology will provide consumers with a compelling aternative to the conventional fax-to-email solutions in the market.”, says Andy Openshaw, Chief Comercial Officer at ECN.
