First Car Rental 'Drive for the Cause' Fund Raising Initiative for M-Net Naledi Project a Success

Submitted by: Ian Dickinson

First Car Rental has managed to raise over R 38, 000 in just 3 months for the M-Net Cares Drive for the Cause Campaign via its website booking portal since its launch on the 17 May 2013, thanks to its loyal and caring customers.

Says Melissa Storey, Executive Head: Strategy, Development & Marketing at First Car Rental, "The M-Net Cares 'Drive for the Cause' campaign is a great CSI project to get involved in as these events are well organised and well supported by golfers who love golf but also see the bigger picture in supporting initiatives like this. First Car Rental has created two initiatives that we hope will bear fruit in a big way with the help of our loyal customers.

The first is the Naledi book bins initiative. There will be a Naledi book bin at each of our 47 branches for collecting children's books to stock libraries in under-resourced schools and youth community centres identified in the M-Net cares Naledi project. The second is an online donation portal, which will give renters the opportunity to add a small donation to their booking at the time of booking their vehicles, should they wish to do so. "

First Car Rental's Book Collection Drive is to collect as many children's books as possible. They will place 47 branded M-Net Naledi Bins in 47 First Car Rental branches nationwide allowing renters to donate children's books for the M-Net Cares Naledi Children's Literacy Project.

These books will be used to stock revamped libraries in under-resourced schools and youth community centres identified in the M-Net cares Naledi project.

As a major sponsor and highly committed to this cause, First Car Rental has programmed a 'please donate' button on its car hire booking portal, which will enable renters booking with them to donate any amount of money should they wish to do so. All donations will help to raise funds for 2013 M-Net Cares Drive for the Cause Campaign - the Naledi project.

M-Net Cares is the Corporate Social Investment (CSI) arm under M-Net's corporate umbrella. M-Net Cares CSI strategy is based on ensuring that they support and uplift the communities they operate in and that they work closely with government to meet the national social development goals.
