Lucy Kruger Brings Acoustic Indie-Rock To The Bay Harbour Market

Submitted by: Ian Dickinson

The Bay Harbour Market comes alive this weekend with fantastic performances from pop-rockers Hotel Iris, jazz duo Upfront and indie acoustic rock star Lucy Kruger.

Taking to the Brampton Sound Stage on August 10 for Friday Nite LIVE! is four-piece pop-rock sensation Hotel Iris. This unique band combines soulful, bluesy undertones with pop rhythms to tantalize even the most turbid of ears. Hotel Iris holds the title of Band Survivor Hout Bay 2012 and is sure to complement the great energy of the market.

You’ll think you’ve been transported to the legendary New Orleans Jazz strip on Saturday August 11 when experienced musos Upfront take to the stage. This dynamic jazz duo consists of Harry Peacock on guitar and Trevor Parker on keyboards and vocals. Their bebop and swing undertones will definitely get your feet and fingers tapping, with popular tracks ranging from Charlie Parker to Stan Getz. Collectively these musicians have over 50 years of entertainment experience.

Ending the weekend off on August 12 is acoustic indie-rock goddess Lucy Kruger. This young artist brings a distinctive freshness to local indie-rock with easy, honest song writing and a sexy, crooning voice. Her album Fired Up! features innovative SA artists including Inge Beckmann, Schalk Joubert and Albert Frost. Lucy will be joined on Sunday afternoon by accomplished percussionist Lucas Swart.

The Bay Harbour Market showcases over 100 stalls featuring arts, crafts, fashion, decor and delicious cuisine.
