There’s a saying in security that work never really stops and you are always on duty. That certainly was the case this week for East Rand Community Operations Manager, Sheldon Grobler.

Grobler was driving home in the early hours of the morning from a joint security operation when he noticed two distressed females standing in their yard at their residential premise. He immediately stopped to investigate and to see if they needed any assistance.

As it turns out it was an important stop as an elderly women living on the property had suffered a stroke and the two ladies were afraid to transport the elderly resident by themselves to the hospital, fearing for their safety at that time of the morning and during curfew.
Grobler immediately offered to escort the ladies to the nearest hospital so that the elderly resident could get the necessary emergency treatment.

Keith Alberts, Fidelity ADT Branch Manager says it was fortuitous that Grobler was driving back but also reminds customers that Fidelity ADT have a medical assist service and in cases like this, the ladies could have pressed their panic button and an officer would have been dispatched who could have then assessed the situation and called an ambulance if necessary.

Fortunately all turned out well, and the resident is recovering well in hospital.
