DA to mark Women’s Day in Soweto
Submitted by: MyPressportal TeamTomorrow, Thursday 9 August 2018, the Democratic Alliance Women’s Network (DAWN) Leader, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, will lead the Party’s Women’s Day activity.
Almost 10 million South Africans are without work, with women bearing the brunt of this crisis, which the current government has no plan to address. Women are forced to subject themselves to the horrendous act of ‘carpet interviews’ – exchanging sexual favours and money to gain access to work opportunities.
DAWN will lead a picket at the Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital, where 100 women exposed a sex-for-jobs practice.
The DAWN Leader will be joined by DAWN Gauteng Provincial Chairperson, Suzanne Clark, the Party’s Deputy Federal Chairperson, Refiloe Nt’sekhe, Gauteng Provincial Leader, John Moodey, Shadow Minister of Communications, Phumzile van Damme, Gauteng Shadow MEC for Health, Jack Bloom, and Constituency Head, Tsepo Mhlongo.
The Women’s Day activity will take place as follows:
Date: Thursday, 9 August 2018
Time: 10:00
Location: Bheki Mlangeni District Hospital
Address: 2190, Bolani Road, Jabulani, Soweto
