{pp}In his upcoming Exhibition at the Gordart Gallery Martin Osner will be show casing works from five different series’ taken of the span of his fine art photography career. All of which have a unique interpretation of the world in which we inhabit every day, but, yet sometimes take little notice of; or as Osner puts it: “things… brushed aside by society… once worshipped, idolized and even loved now left abandoned.”

Provoking thought and controversy is a component prominent in Martin Osner’s art. A characteristic which could arguably be considered to be a result of his understanding, versatility and ability to adapt to every location he visits. When measured as an art collectable, Osner’s photography accentuates an intimate relationship with actuality – a trait which is undeniable. Martin Osner’s distinct sense of purpose, whose portfolio includes a vast combination of color rich and sometimes abstract twists, uniquely expresses the qualities of life in every portrait he captures.

This is largely the reason why he’s works are fast gaining appreciation from all who see his work. Based in Pretoria, South Africa, Marin Osner has successfully established his role as a fine art photographer by adopting an unconstrained sense of reality; a technique which comes across every subject he brings to life. Particularly reputable for his theatrical floral appreciation, motion captured stills and other collections such as the acid-sharp colours of the Vivid Palette series; Martin Osner is a connoisseur who bears no limitation when attempting the remarkable.

Abandoned, Faceless Society, Unrestricted, Urban Reflection and Road to freedom are the sets of work which will be on display to the public from the 11th to the 31st of May 2008 at the Gordart Gallery situated in the heart of Melville Johannesburg. In addition to the exhibition a limited edition coffee table books will also be on offer to the public. The five series of photographic works will be displayed in the book which will have a limited run of only 200 units For a visual tour of photographs taken by Martin Osner, or for more information visit his website at www.martinosner.com.

About Martin Osner: Born in Johannesburg, South Africa (1963), Martin Osner opened his first photographic studio in Johannesburg (1985) where he established a solid reputation as a professional photographer and artist. In 1993 he co-founded the National College of Photography, which today has become the premier photographic training institution in the country. Osner eschews photography, favoring a more expressive vision that accords with his visual understanding and spiritual appreciation of the world.

A multi-award winning artist his photography is characterized by an urge to explore with the willingness to experiment. Concentrating intently on elemental form, pattern and shape, paired with a necessary sense of restraint, he bears out his belief that simplicity is the cornerstone of successful imaging.

Today Osner specializes in a contemporary portfolio of fine art photography, offering limited edition Gicleé and traditional black & white vintage prints, into a collectors' market. His collection consists of ghostly abstract renditions, moody landscapes and social documentary imaging. He strives to establish and develop close working relationships with respectable interior design companies and selected galleries through which he also accepts private commission work. Osner's work is available through selected galleries in South Africa, Europe and Canada.
