#HandsOffMashaba: ANC MONC an attempt to get back on the gravy train

Submitted by: MyPressportal Team

The ANC knows that it is on borrowed time. They know that the DA in Gauteng is going to win this province in 2019, so they are trying to get back onto the gravy train, by hook or by crook. That is why they are fielding this frivolous Motion of No Confidence in Mayor Mashaba.

Under the leadership of Mayor Herman Mashaba the DA-led City of Joburg is working hard to bring total change the corrupt system the ANC built. Since Mayor Mashaba took office, corruption to the value R16 billion has been uncovered. This money will now go to the poor instead of to cadres and that is making the ANC angry.

Mayor Mashaba has already started delivering on the promise of a new beginning for the people of Joburg and has:

  • Allocated R1.9 billion to upgrading 51 informal settlements – making sure that all our residents receive better services.
  • Created over 21 000 EPWP job opportunities.
  • Delivered over 3 900 title deeds to residents, giving them ownership of a home they can pass on to their children.
  • Recruited 1 500 more Joburg Metro Police officers to keep communities safe.
  • Cancelled a R161 million contract for the provision of fire engines after it was discovered that the tender was awarded based on forged Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC) documents.
  • Implemented a city-wide clean-up program called A Re Sebetseng that has conducted over 1250 clean-ups all around Joburg.
  • Arrested more than 14 people for hijacking Properties in the City Centre

It’s going to take time but the DA is hard at work to bring about real change for the people of Joburg. It is time that the ANC puts its greed aside and lets the Mayor get on with the business of serving the people. The ANC must accept that their days are numbered and get out of the way of delivery.
