Margaret Hirsch inspires Dalpark Secondary School

Margaret Hirsch recently visited the learners of Dalpark Secondary school to tell them about her life and how  important hard work is to get to where you want to be in life. Her talk came  at a very important time as it is when learners are busy with their mid year exams.

She told the learners that if they want something in life, they have to go out and get it and take what they learn in school to improve their lives.Margaret then announced the essay competition for the learners. They have 2 months to submit an essay to Mrs Kanagan the social teacher. The winner will receive R5000. Second runner up will win R3000 and the third runner up will win R1000.

Cpt Lusha Govender and Sgt Faith Ntuli of the Brakpan SAPS were also on hand to tell the children about studying hard and to stay away from certain areas in the vicinity around their school for their own safety.

Margaret then took the grade 8 girls aside to speak to them about abstinence and the importance of staying in school. She explained that women everyday are paving the way for better opportunities for them and their future,

She spoke to them about how important it is not to miss a day of school and that studies are the foundation for a better future for them and their families. Mrs Hirsch is known to educate females about the importance of their sanitary needs and that it should not hold them back from going to school every day. She handed out  a supply of  reusable “Girls With Dignity” sanitary towels to the girls – which should last them until the end of their schooling careers.

Margaret will visit the school in August again to hand over the prizes for the essay competition and to follow up on the grade 8’s girls.
