Submitted by: MyPressportal TeamCentral City Comics is hosting their Be A Hero launch event on Free Comic Book Day in support of the SPCA in Sandton.
Central City Comics was the dream of two men who loved their comics, movies, toys, gadgets, zombies, sci-fi epics, and costumes. They established their own comic book store, but never forgot their dream of being superheroes, and so, want to launch their store and help the animals of the SPCA Sandton and Marlboro area, which is five minutes away from the store.
There will be stalls, food, cosplay competitions for pets, cosplayers, discounts and free comics. Cosplay competitions allow entry for both children and pets and will include the following dress-up categories:
- Comics
- Crafting
- Animes
- Games and
- A 'skit' category
Participants will also have the opportunity to get their artwork commissioned in the artist alley.
“The whole object of the day is to share our passion for the geek culture with new people while still helping a good cause and bringing awareness to the best sidekicks any hero could have, their pets,” says Stephen Lewis, co-owner of Central City Comics.
Entry is free, with the option of providing a donation for the SPCA.
Donations include dog food, blankets, towels; or, a monetary donation. Each donation will give participants a 10% discount off any one of their purchases from Central City Comics.
The #CCHereos day will occur on Saturday, 6 May and will take place from 10:00 to 16:00.
