Last Man Standing sponsors two young athletes to join the start of the 2022 season in Johannesburg

Last Man Standing is proud to announce their partnership with ProjectFit Soweto for the first event of the season, which will take place in Johannesburg from 6 to 8 May.

Two young athletes from ProjectFit Soweto will have an opportunity to compete in the event, courtesy of the Last Man Standing.

“We are delighted to support ProjectFit Soweto and the two athletes. Last Man Standing is for the community and by the community. It is therefore important for us that we assist where possible and invest in young talent,” said Robert Walker, founder and director of Last Man Standing.

The two athletes aged 16,  Thapelo Hlabathe and Katleho Tladi, have roughly a year experience of weight-lifting and have just started CrossFit. They will be competing in the individual intermediate division at Last Man Standing Johannesburg.

Hlabathe said, “As an athlete, it has always been my dream to be a competitive individual.  Having won a few weight-lifting competitions, this experience will be one to remember. I am taking part in Last Man Standing to compete and represent both my club and my community, and just to let everyone know that CrossFit is a lifestyle.”

Meanwhile Tladi said, “This competition means a lot to me and I'm determined to do my best to show people my capabilities, especially the people who assisted us in getting a proper gym facility.”

ProjectFit Soweto director, Vanessa Mahomed expressed her gratitude for the partnership and said, “We are thankful for our partnership with Last Man Standing and the opportunity to provide our athletes with such great experience to showcase their talents alongside top athletes from across the country.” Mahomed added that, “The two athletes are the first young athletes from ProjectFit to be part of a competition like Last Man Standing. This opportunity will set a trend and show the rest of the community that it is achievable through hard work and dedication.”
