World’s Oldest Provincial Rugby Tournament Gets New Broadcast Sponsor KWV Showcases Pioneering Spirit With SuperSport Currie Cup Sponsorship Cape Town – 4th August, 2014 – KWV, home of the World’s Best Brandy and leading wine and spirits producer, today announced its broadcast sponsorship of the 2015 ABSA Currie Cup Rugby, one of the world’s oldest provincial rugby tournaments. Steeped in history and tradition, the ABSA Currie Cup dates back to 1889 and the tournament is regarded as the cornerstone of South Africa's rugby heritage.

The coveted gold trophy remains the most prestigious prize in South African domestic rugby. The ABSA Currie Cup tournament kicks off on the 7th of August, this years’ tournament is set to be filled with a number of surprises with heavy expectations on the 8 participating teams considering it is a World Cup year and the appearance of several Springbok Sevens squad members joining various teams. “Recently we launched our first ever brand trademark campaign, Finish Great and as an extension to this we decided it was time to take on a broadcast sponsorship to give understanding to what it means to finish great as well as to build context to our brand campaign,” De Bruyn Steenkamp, Global Sales & Marketing Director for KWV.
