Jeep Team Renegades Take on Bay Union Surfski Series

Jeep Team’s Hank McGregor and Barry Lewin are teaming up with Michelle Burn and Lee Furby to form the Jeep Team Renegades competing in the Bay Union Surfski Series Team Challenge, which starts on Sunday, 19 April 2015, in Durban.

The Team Challenge is a new initiative by the series that aims to highlight the “race within the race”. Says series co-ordinator Barry Lewin, “Paddlers enter a team of four for all five races of the series. Each team member then paddles in each race of the series and is awarded points according to when they finish within their grade.”

After every race, the team’s best three scores are counted and go towards their overall series tally. McGregor, recently crowned the 2015 Varsity College Marine Surfski Series champion, and Lewin will both be racing in the Men’s Open grade, with Furby racing in the Men’s Veteran category. 2013 series winner, Michelle Burn, will be racing in the Women’s Open category.
