SportsActive Indaba to debate the future of sport

Sports business events company, Gerom Media, Sports & Entertainment (Pty) Ltd, has announced that the SportsActive Indaba and Awards will take place, as an online event on 29 October 2020.

The Indaba will feature more than 30 thought leaders sharing their views on the challenges faced by the sports industry and in particular mass participation events, like marathons and the fitness industry at large.

It will also have distinctive breakaway rooms such as the Marathonex Forum, which will primarily focus on the business and commercial elements required to stage successful races.

The Forum will unpack aspects pertaining to the desired socio and economic impact as well as the return on investment and objectives for organisers, host cities and commercial partners, alike.

The MassActive Forum will be another key breakaway session, to debate the future of mass participation events under the new normal and how event organisers, should re-align their business proposition to this lucrative consumer lifestyle segment of the market.

A third breakaway session, i.e. the FitActive Forum, will convene key stakeholders from South Africa’s fitness industry and leading thought leaders, who will share their views on the future of the health and wellness, sports and leisure industries, post Covid-19.

A dedicated masterclass on sponsorship negotiation will also be held on the same day, prior to the start of the Indaba.

The Indaba will also feature a virtual exhibition, one on one video networking sessions as well as three different awards programmes.

The Marathonex Awards, MassActive Awards and the Fitactive Awards respectively, will bestow recognition on the movers and shakers in these different sectors.

Members of the public will also be allowed to nominate and vote for their favourite sport events, gear and gyms, etc.

The nomination forms for these different Awards Programmes are available on the organiser’s web site and could be completed online at: www.sportsbusiness.co.za
