The 2016 Assupol Club Tournament kicked off in full swing

Spirits were high among participants, and supporters at the start of the Assupol Club Tournament 2016. The first matches kicked off on 6 February 2016 with Pretoria Police vs Impala,  Naka Bulls vs Tuks, UJ vs Harlequins and Tuine vs Centurion.  “It’s important to support rugby at club level.

The tournament narrows the gap between amateur and professional rugby, as we are able to identify and develop that talent. That’s why it’s important to support rugby at club level,” said Dr Eugene Hare, Tournament Director. Gert Wessels, Sales Executive at Assupol cited that, “The tournament is in its ninth year running, and every year the players look stronger and stronger.

Assupol is proud to provide the platform for the development of young rugby players and we hope that this partnership can bring more fruition within amateur rugby. ”A total of 18 clubs, with 72 teams and 1 584 players will be traveling approximately 28 000 km to play each other in the tournament. The semi-finals will take place on 5 March 2016, and the finals will be on 12 March 2016.
