KhayaMedia - On the map in Moscow

28 January 2015, Cape Town -

Destination management company KhayaMedia has expanded its global footprint and now established an office in Moscow. KhayaMedia arranges travel and accommodation for broadcasters, sponsors and federations at large sporting events.

With Russia hosting the Confederations Cup next year and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, as well as several other high-calibre events in the near future, it has been a logical decision to establish KhayaMedia Russia,” says CEO Volkhard Bauer.

Founded 10 years ago in South Africa the fast growing company now has offices around the globe. “We are going the extra mile and establish offices with local staff, which has an intimate knowledge of the local market,” says Volkhard. “Our clients are used to a high-level service. Through our own staff we can guarantee the quality we are known for.

KhayaMedia’s office is located in very heart of Moscow, within 15-minute walking distance from Red Square. From there KhayaMedia’s Andrey Shkatov and Elena Anaclerio are sourcing hotels, apart-hotels and transport around Moscow as well as all-over Russia.

The team has already kicked off their visits to all the 2018 FIFA World Cup host cities. “We are currently negotiating with a selection of hotels,” reveals Accommodation Manager Elena Anaclerio. “We are right on track to offer our clients a wide variety of options, especially for the World Cup in 2018.”

Research has shown that hotel options in Russia are limited. All in all there are only three host cities in Russia with enough capacity to host thousands of football fans from around the world: the capital Moscow, the tourism mecca of St Petersburg as well as the Olympic city of 2012, Sochi.

With the options around the country unevenly balanced it comes as no surprise that sponsors are all queuing to book 5-Star hotels in Moscow.

During the Russia & CIS Hotel Investment Conference, held in Moscow at the end of October 2015, Mr Bauer advised the audience that hotels are entitled to choose whom they want to contract with. Independent agencies as KhayaMedia mostly offer better packages to hotels when it comes to payment dates and cancellation policies.

KhayaMedia has a proud history of providing good quality accommodation even in challenging surroundings. “At the 2012 UEFA EURO in Poland/Ukraine our Team unearthed new hotels in every host city,” says KhayaMedia’s COO Sebastian Schmidt. “Therefore we are positive to be able to provide comfortable as well as cost-effective solutions all across Russia. We can make it happen… We are wherever you are!”
