Music for Everyone at the Bay Harbour Market This Weekend

Submitted by: Ian Dickinson

Make sure you head down to the Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay this weekend for an eclectic mix of musical acts from head-bopping reggae to laid-back jazz.

Taking to the Brampton Sound Stage for Friday Night LIVE! is Cape Town reggae band the Rivertones. Formed by experienced musician Roland Geoffery Nair in 2006, the Rivertones have played at major festivals across the country. Their frontman has been performing since he was 12 and has jammed with the likes of “The Wailers” (Bob Marley’s band). These reggae masters are sure to impress.

On Saturday May 19, jazz band Cardigan Buzz entertains audiences with their interesting blend of jazz, swing, folk and blues. Cardigan Buzz has enjoyed commercial success and local radio play with their original track ‘Meaning of You’ and they are regulars on the Western Cape music circuit. They are currently working on new material and plan to release an album in the near future.

Ending the weekend off on Sunday afternoon are guitar maestros Dan Boshoff and Jimi Curve. This acoustic and bass guitar duo draw on a range of folk, reggae and world influences including classic Southern African coastal music such as Tananas or the Goema Captains.

The Bay Harbour Market, Hout Bay also showcases over 100 stalls featuring arts, crafts, fashion, decor and delicious cuisine.
