Protect yourself from fraud and stand in line to win an iPad!

Submitted by: Tina-Louise

It is estimated that identity theft costs our economy over R 1 billion each year. Despite the fact that consumers are becoming more vigilant, fraudsters are becoming more cunning. Techniques such as card skimming and phishing are used daily on unsuspecting victims to access their identity and personal information. Social media websites have also become a goldmine for fraudsters who are looking for access to personal information. If consumers want to protect their identity from impersonation the first step is to equip themselves with knowledge on how to prevent identity theft and what to do should they become a victim.

Many individuals believe that fraud will not affect them and as a result do not put appropriate measures in place to protect themselves. To give individuals the opportunity to test and improve their fraud knowledge Compuscan, with the support of the SAFPS, has created a fraud quiz on their website. The quiz hopes to educate individuals and equip them with the vital skills and knowledge needed to protect themselves from the scourge of identity theft. Apart from providing insight into the latest fraud trends and educating individuals on how to protect themselves, by entering the quiz individuals will also stand in line to win the new Apple iPad.
