Manila Luzon South Africa TourBrought to you by DragCon South Africa & AT! Media

Johannesburg, Gauteng — DragCon South Africa has once again announced its stellar headliner for an all new nationwide drag tour extravaganza! For the first time on the African continent, RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, Manila Luzon will be performing live alongside some of the best local drag talent SA has to offer.

From Johannesburg to Cape Town, and back again, Manila will be taking the country by storm this winter. Manila, along with our fabulous local supporting acts, will be strutting her stuff across South Africa; helping to propel the local drag scene and encourage more young drag enthusiasts to get involved in the ever-growing industry. After a successful debut on the Emmy awarded TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race, Manila became a household name for every drag enthusiast. Since her first appearance on the show on season three, Manila has gone on to showcase her unique drag in two subsequent season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. DragCon South Africa has introduced many of the Drag Race alumni to South Africa already, with stars such as Detox, Alaska 5000, Trinity the Tuck, Brooke Lynn Hytes, and many more.

Starting off the tour in Johannesburg on June 24th, drag fans can see Manila Luzon live at Babylon Bar. Babylon is famous for its contributions to growing the Johannesburg drag scene, and it only seems fitting that Manila Luzon will now grace the stage that gave so many their start. Tickets for the shows will be limited, and with tickets for Manila’s stop in Cape Town already having sold out more than 50% of the tickets available, this will be DragCon SA’s biggest tour to date . Hosted at the iconic Cabo Beach Club on June 26th, the Cape Town leg of the tour will offer fans a reimaged drag experience that has never been done before. Wrapping up the tour on July 3rd – Manila Luzon will be hosting a Drag Brunch at The Maslow Hotel in Sandton. Drag Brunch has become a queer staple in Johannesburg with queer owned AT! Media offering spectators regular Drag Brunches across the nation.

“We started DragCon South Africa initiative to support and grow the already established local drag scene by giving local performers the opportunity to share the stage with international stars in  hopes that they too can one day achieve this stardom. We have a diverse array of queens who we work with. Many are new to drag, and others are drag veterans; bringing together enthusiasm and expertise to create a spectacle not to be missed. Throughout 2022 we will be presenting even more international drag artists to the South African audience, as the drag revolution continues to sweep  the globe.” DragCon SA has also obtained the trade mark for the brand in South Africa, and will continue to introduce international headliners to the African continent throughout 2022 and beyond. People can find out more about DragCon across our Social Media platforms. DragCon SA Official on Facebook, and DragConSA on Instagram.
