Keeping up the spirit of uBuntu and being #StongerTogether!

After the recent challenges in our Province over the past year this should not deter South Africans from supporting those in need.

Now that we are in a new month, Spring is in the air, and the celebration of Heritage Day on Friday, September 24th is just around the corner, so, with a new month means fresh beginnings and to look forward to celebrate the day (month) by remembering our unique cultural heritage from the many cultures that make up the population of South Africa.

To celebrate this month, the Pavilion Shopping Centre wanted to demonstrate that goodwill should never be limited to a single day and to keep the spirit of “ubuntu” alive, and support those who stood by the centre during these recent difficult times!

With that being said, the management team at the Pavilion reached out to one of the Chesterville community leaders, Thamsanqa Zondo who then agreed to partner with the Pavilion Shopping Centre in giving back to their neighbouring community Chesterville as a gesture of thanks and a show of appreciation!

After discussions with Zondo, it was mutually agreed that the centre would contribute 2000 food parcels that will be distributed to the Chesterville community, especially those who are in dire straits during these tough times.

The food parcels  contained a large number of items with a good shelf life or rather perishables and non-perishables that being maize, tin fish, baked beans, sugar, spaghetti pasta, apricot jam, cooking oil, salt, soup, tea bags and rice.“

When you help others, you set a good example to those around you. You provide inspiration for the people who are out there and see that they too can pay it forward and assist. It means that charities or community leaders can look to receiving further assistance, in product or kind, making it a little less of a struggle to help those in need”, says Nisha Kemraj the general manager for the Pavilion Shopping Centre.
