South Africa’s most talented aspiring chefs will be braving the heat and getting into the kitchen for the Jacaranda Clash of Kitchens at Rand Show 2022. For anyone with a passion for food and a touch of creative culinary genius, entries are now open. The Jacaranda Clash of Kitchens is a reality cooking competition with R125 000 in prizes up for grabs, going to South Africa’s brightest culinary champions with a flair for fabulous flavours.  

40 teams of two people each will compete in live cooking elimination rounds over five intense days, in the 2022 Rand Show’s Foodie Zone. To ensure that the competition is fair, each team will have to create dishes using ingredients from a collection of mystery baskets. All of the mystery ingredients will be supplied by Checkers.

Snappychef will be sponsoring stoves, crockery and cutlery for all workstations for the Jacaranda Clash of Kitchens and contestants will be fully equipped to do their best with top-of-the-range kitchen equipment. Entrants will be judged on creativity, taste and presentation. Celebrity chefs, Marinda Engelbrecht and Mogau Seshoene (AKA The Lazy Makoti), will mentor each session and assist teams throughout (within guidelines, to keep it fair).

Every day, two teams will be selected, leading up to the grand finale on the 18 April.  The finalists will participate in a cookoff to determine the final Clash of Kitchens winner. Handpicked celebrity judges and chefs will observe the process and sample every dish to provide expert feedback. They will then make the challenging decision on who walks away with the Clash of Kitchens title and the grand prize.
