Carols by car light and a movie at Randridge Mall!Submitted by Steven J Brown
It might have been a particularly challenging year, but now’s the time to get festive with some great carols by car light and a wonderful holiday movie drive-in style for the whole family on Saturday, December 19th at 4pm at Randridge Mall in partnership with SA Drive in.
Instead of letting protocols put a damper on our Christmas spirit, we’ve come up with the ideal way of creating some ‘cracking’ entertainment that not only complies with all the Covid regulations but also hankers back to some of the greatest movie moments of yesteryear.
Join us for the screening of Elf which tells the tale of how a now adult elf played by Will Ferrell saves Christmas for New York and the world.
One Christmas eve a long time ago, a baby crawled into Santa’s bag of toys. Raised as an elf, Buddy grows into an adult three times larger than the biggest elf and realizes that he will never fit in at the North pole. This holiday season, Buddy goes looking for his true place in the world in New York City. He finds his workaholic father (James Caan) who is on Santa’s naughty list, a new mother (Mary Steenburgen) and a 10-year-old brother who doesn’t believe in Santa Claus or elves. Along the way, Buddy discovers his destiny.
This festive drive in theatre experience costs just R200 a car – and Randridge Mall will be throwing in free popcorn.
Also, don’t pack the cooler box, simply order from Food restaurant who will be serving up a specialised roadhouse style express menu.
Just before the movie, you can catch the Salvation Army band and the Quava choir, as they bring back all that lovely Christmas nostalgia with carols by car light.
During the build up to the main event, take a selfie with elfie who you need to track down in the mall to stand a chance to win tickets to the fun drive-in event.
As part of the event, the 26 children who reside at Thandanani House, a place of refuge providing a happy home for abandoned, abused, orphaned and neglected children will be attending the movie night, making this night just that much more special. In true Christmas spirit (only all year long) within the walls of the House of Refuge, lives are being changed, hope renewed, dreams rediscovered, and authentic love experienced.
