“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort,

intelligent direction and skilful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.”

John Ruskin

Those who bolt out the door in the morning giving little thought to breakfast to say nothing of lunch need meals they can eat on the run; meals that don’t compromise on taste and nutrition. With the launch of The Nook – skipping the most important meal of the day – or any other for that matter – can now be a thing of the past.

Nestled in Legacy Corner (near Sandton Square) in in the heart of Sandton, The Nook with its fresh green and white décor can be likened to a fun and funky deli. Apart from the food, the mural of the cigar smoking African women is a real talking point, giving it a hip and happening vibe that’s as appealing as the aromas from the kitchen. Comfortably seating up to 24 people, the eat in or take away meals can best be described as quick fix comfort food that’s wholesome, hearty, nutritious and delicious.

Considered a small menu, nevertheless with plenty of choice, it will be updated and changed every six weeks, with inspiration being drawn from the seasons and on the go consumption trends. Developed by the executive chef at sister restaurant L’Opulence, Mark Hoberman, he set out to create food that is home away from home cooking that feeds the soul as much as the stomach! All reviews indicate this has been expertly achieved.

Breakfast choices are generally healthy with fruit cups, smoothies and yoghurt parfaits at the top of the list – supplemented with fresh pastries for those with a bigger appetite and complemented with a caffeine fix of any description. All hot drinks are served in a floating mug – another “first and only at The Nook” offering.

Comfort food classics and already popular lunchtime favourites include the homemade pie, soup and dombolo, lasagne, pizza slices, pap and crispy potatoes. Forget ordinary – the salad of the day options like the roasted veggie salad and Moroccan chicken & cous cous salad make for interesting eating. For those who like variety and mixing things up – the Build Your Box meal at R50 is a value for money dish guaranteed to satisfy those with a real hunger. Customers can choose a starch, one meat, one vegetable and one salad; build it and box it!

With sufficient warning The Nook can even cater for corporate lunches and small events, supplying large dishes of food on the menu rather than individual portions. It’s expected that local businesses in the area will soon see the value in trading out sandwich platters in favour of more substantial meeting food.

The Nook trademark is great food with great flavour; nothing comes at the expense of quality and all the food is brought in fresh daily. Many of the ingredients organically farmed.

Open seven days a week from 7am to 6:00pm – The Nook can be contacted via Facebook or telephonically on 011 326 6984.
