Submitted by: Sarann Buckby

Join us at Brightwater Commons for an al fresco Carnival-themed Long Table Christmas dinner on 6 December from 18:00-21:00. Setting sun, shaded lawns, delicious food, music, song, wine and great company – all without breaking the festive budget! Perfect ingredients for the most memorable Christmas celebration in years!

"This will be a kaleidoscope of colour and music with scintillating décor and shimmering candles set against the summer evening and the lush green grass of Brightwater Commons," says Francois du Buisson, the Marketing Manager of Brightwater Commons which is the inspiration behind the Long Table event. "What better backdrop for a celebration of friendship, family and oneness in our great South African outdoors!"

Long tables will be arranged on the commons inviting a spirit of togetherness among both friends and strangers. It's a marvellous opportunity for team members to unwind together, for clubs to eat and drink to one another's health, for families and friends to kick off the holiday season with a new bond of fun and entertainment and even for strangers to strike up new acquaintances.

The cherry on the cream is the free concert providing top notch entertainment with artists such as internationally renowned Cindy Alter and former top rock band Ballyhoo's Stewart Irving Rock wowing patrons. This great team AlterIrving will be belting out their unique blend of amazing originals and beloved old favourites with their fantastic band of merrymen providing the instrumental accompaniment.

The fabulous Busk Brass quintet will be introducing their brand of "Just for Fun" rousing brass music with trumpets, trombones and weird and wonderful instruments such as Fluegelhorns, Trombozelas, Cornets and Euphoniums.

At the other end of the music spectrum, the Sandton Choir, as famous for its amazing repertoire as for its intense participation in the community, and the

Musique Romantica will add its special touch with piano, violin, cello and flute, adding colour and texture to a rich summer evening with its classical interpretations of popular music and its unique combination of instruments.

Don't think that the kids won't be entertained, at 19:00 the much loved Father Christmas will arrive at the event with his jolly disposition and picture-perfect beard! Come ready for family pictures and Christmas wishing!

Patrons can select one of a number of restaurants including Mimmos, Scrooges, Foodworks, East Meats West, Babylon Again, Ocean Basket and Braza which will all be showcasing their own specialities, dishes and service with menu pricing set at R200 or R100 per person. Some restaurants will be offering a set menu and others allow patrons a selection of meals to choose from.  A portion of the plate fee will be donated to the Sunflower Fund.

"We are delighted to be benefiting from this wonderful event," comments Lauren Corlett, PR and Communication Manager of the Fund. "Sunflowers always speak of happiness and affection, of hope and a positive attitude, so it is truly fitting that we can be associated with the Long Table celebration!"

Members of the public can books seats at their preferred restaurant and will be seated at the section of the long table allocated to that restaurant. Highly motivated and experienced waiters will meet your every desire! Some restaurants will be offering set menus and others will allow patrons to select a meal.
