UK superstars Estelle, Fatboy Slim and Dizzee Rascal are the headline acts for a line-up of over 40 top South African DJ’s and bands at a football party that kicks off at the CTICC on 11 June. All the Games will be screened live at the venue, and the entertainment kicks off at 12 mid-day, going on until 3 a.m. “The plan”, says Cool Britannia organizer, Conor Nolan, “is to make this the home from home for every football fan. If you like the sound of 32 days of incredible music acts, massive screens showing the games and 32 nations partying under one roof, then the CTICC is where you need to be”.
Estelle, the legendary R&B singer-songwriter and rapper will set the opening party alight with her first-ever live show in South Africa. The multiple award-winning artist shot to fame in 2008 with her number one hit American Boy. Rapper, Dizzee Rascal who takes to the stage on June 16 is also performing in Africa for the very first time. “Dizzee Rascal can’t wait to play his first African gig”, says Nolan “and given the response of 150,000 fans in Glastonbury last year, his live show will put shivers down your spine. Playing on the same day as Bafana Bafana, this will be a real public holiday treat’.

Another first is DJ Fatboy Slim’s full live production on 18 June – the same day as the England vs Algeria match. “On the day England comes to town, this is set to be one of the iconic shows of 2010”, says Nolan.

The three stars will share the stage with an impressive line-up of local acts. Rap artist, HHP who recently won a Best International Act Award; 340ml, Tucan Tucan and 5FM’s DJ Fresh, Euphonik and Roger Goode are just some of the names that South Africans know and love to party to. DJ, Dino Moran will debut his Afroteq music and dance production at the opening event on 11 June.

Themed parties will be another good reason to brave the winter chills; and glam guru, Gavin Rajah will show off South African designer collections with international DJ-models, Willy Monfret of France and William Oliviera of Brazil.

A free zone inside the CTICC will host entertainment and a beer garden. The full entertainment and match schedule is on the Cool Britannia website, www.coolbritanniasa.com. Follow us on Facebook www.facebook/globalicons. Tickets are on sale at Computicket.

Cool Britannia is hosted by Cape Town events company, Global Icons.
