HYDE PARK CORNER WELCOMES ARTISANAL COLLABORATION

Perfectly timed to bring a plethora of artisanal gifting ideas to shoppers ahead of Christmas, Hyde Park Corner is delighted to welcome VYx44, a collaborative store conceptualised to bring the artisans, makers and designers from arty 44 Stanley and Victoria Yards to the north.

44 Stanley and more recently Victoria Yards have re-invented urban spaces in Johannesburg and brought together local makers and artisans. Although distinctly different, both properties focus on sustainable practices and a return to artisanal craft and making with an increased emphasis on social development. This November, Hyde Park Corner brings these artisans, makers and designers to you.

Opening on 1 November in the month of Hyde Park Corner’s 50th birthday celebrations, YVx44 will be a place to discover fashion and accessories, furniture and décor, craft and design and coffee from Africa’s first Certified Fairtrade, organic coffee roaster.

Housed in a trendy warehouse-like space in a prime location at Hyde Park Corner, YVx44 is a perfect addition to the Hyde Park Corner’s mix of elegant and upmarket stores, restaurants, medical practitioners, aesthetics, movies and experiences.

About Hyde Park Corner
Hyde Park Corner is celebrating its golden anniversary with '50 & Fabulous’ celebrations that include exciting events, lucky draws, prizes, special offers, opportunities to give back, milestone exhibits and a whole lot more in October and November.

Hyde Park Corner has the auspicious history of being the first fully enclosed shopping centre in South Africa when it opened in November 1969, and has evolved to meet the changing needs of a discerning clientele, providing the quality and sophistication they enjoy. The elegant centre has 130 stores serving the local community and international travellers with a wide range of luxury brands, fashion, top restaurants, and more.

About Victoria Yards
Victoria Yards was born from a passion to bring together an eco-system where an eclectic mix of artisans work together as a community capturing the hardworking history of the location. The space has been transformed from dilapidated Lorentzville warehouses to a uniquely urban cohesive community, where greenery and creativity reigns and most importantly a space that benefits the local area and its inhabitants through an urban city farm school and social development programme. Food gardens and greenery surround the buildings which retain their historic, industrial feel and house studios and workshop spaces for fine artists, metalworkers, glass-blowers, silkscreen printers and furniture-makers.
