Sandile Nene, founder of SA Bloggers and SABC Radio Entertainment Commentator

From being a blogger, to renowned publicist, social media influencer, entertainment commentator and media entrepreneur – Sandile ‘Sandy’ Nene has not only accomplished these accolades for himself but has created innovative opportunities for his fellow man by roping in creative young people in his platforms to help tell success stories (and theirs) from around the country and abroad. The digital landscape has really changed owing to his contributions and involving young blood towards this craft.

Through his selfless and inspiring leadership, the future does really augur well with individuals such as Sandile at the helm. His mission is to push the normal child in the township towards the better, to inspire the budding media guru to always reach for greater heights and to encourage the thousands of youth, known and unknown to him, that nothing is impossible and we should at all times embrace and honor the opportunities and time we are given in life.

Throughout the years we have witnessed the growth of his work which has attracted thousands of ordinary South Africans through topics of interest and other content driven conversations through his platforms such as SA Bloggers and On Point With Sandy Nene, to live engagements either at workshops or industry gatherings. Recognition is really due to credible and hardworking individuals like Sandile, who have a great vision of impacting society positively through the latest mechanisms and tools introduced with the advent of technology.

BIOGRAPHYArmed with little more than a phone, a data bundle and a never-say-die attitude Sandile Nene has (through dogged perseverance) established himself as an entertainment, celebrity news and event blogger in the South African blogosphere. From humble beginnings, he has worked hard to establish a wide following and a strong social media presence across platforms.

I am Sandile Nene, but you may know me as Sandy. I’ll keep things simple, as my history is a typically South African melting pot of culture and adventure. A proud South African, I am based in Durban and spent most of my childhood in the theatre, performing in locations all over our great country.
I’ve been privileged to work with big names like Silindile Nodangala, award-winning Jazz artist Madala Kunene, Bheki Mkhwane who plays Ndlovu on Isibaya and Faca Kulu who was the lead singer on Mbongeni Ngema‘s multi-award winning SARAFINA and composed songs for International stage play The Lion King. Spending most of my life as a busy kid and an arts activist gave me the opportunity to work at two of KZN’s biggest community radio stations, Inanda fm and Vibe FM as well as Vuma 103 FM.

I’m sure you’re asking yourself why I decided to start a blog and how my love for writing came about – I love telling stories and this was the best way for me to grow my writing skills. After realising that fashion wasn’t my true passion, I moved from being a fashion student to becoming a freelance writer. I have worked with South Africa’s biggest blogs and online magazines to shape my way towards entertainment reporting and celebrity interviews. With strong established connections created and maintained throughout the entertainment industry, I found myself doing freelance PR work for people like Sindi Nene, Sphelele Mzimela, Durban Community Radio Station - Inanda FM and radio personality Clarissa Cares, I decided to start South Africa’s very first and largest blogging community ‘SABloggers - weblogforlove.com’ where me and a troop of creatives tell South African stories.
