Who will dress Mr. Gay World Southern Africa for the Big Event?

Submitted by: Hendrik Baird

The Mr. Gay World competition will be held in Knysna during the Pink Loerie Mardi Gras and Arts Festival in May, and a special designer is needed to dress South Africa’s entrant. Mr. Gay World is a world event staged in South Africa for the third time in its ten-year history.

The event receives global exposure and the winner goes on to be a role model for the world’s LGBTQ+ community. The very handsome Juan Pinnick is Mr. Gay World Southern Africa 2017 and he has a real chance to walk away with the crown. All he needs is some clothes to do it in! Luckily South Africa has an abundance of talent and Juan is holding thumbs that one of the talented upcoming or established designers will come forward to dress him for success.

The event usually showcases a traditional outfit that represents the country that the delegate comes from, as well as a street wearable version of that outfit. Juan will also need four suits to wear during different parts of the competition. The designer that puts his or her hand up for this challenge will receive sizable exposure for their brand and will get extensive coverage in the various publications associated with the Pink Loerie and Mr. Gay World, as well as interviews on the media partner of both events, GaySA Radio.

This challenge is not for everybody – there is a unique designer with fresh ideas standing by to dress Mr. Gay World Southern Africa for success.
