The word metaverse has been going rounds in social media like never before. The reason for it today is because of the announcement made by Mark Zuckerberg, the Founder of Meta, previously named Facebook, on the launch of their own Metaverse.

Although Meta would have attracted all the limelight there are Metaverses like Sandbox and Decentraland that are already doing great. Last year, Justin Bieber went supermeta by hosting a concert in Sandbox which was the beginning of the mainstream adoption of Metaverse. Since then there has been a lot happening in the Metaverse. The latest addition to this futuristic tech is the cricket metaverse.

Cricket Metaverse- A virtual world exclusively for the cricket fans

So, what can we expect from a cricket metaverse? Like any metaverse, users will have to own cricket NFTs from a cricket NFT marketplace to enter the metaverse. Although the concept of cricket metaverse is in a stealth mode let me put a few expectations of mine here,

• A virtual world where individuals can create teams and play cricket matches against each other.
• Brands can sponsor cricket leagues and host them. Different users can come together to form teams and play.
• A DAO can be created within it to regulate the different league matches held in the metaverse.
• A cricket NFT marketplace where the users can buy and sell cricket NFTs.
• A Metaverse cricket world cup like the one in the real world.
• Users can probably be allowed to buy stadiums and rent them out for the DAO to host matches in them.
• Users can also rent their cricket player NFTs to other new users who will be interested in playing in it.

Closing Thoughts

The idea of a cricket metaverse is itself so exciting. However, we will have to wait and see how it is going to evolve over time.
