PayU and Callpay Announcement

August 19, 2015, - Cape Town, South-Africa PayU, a global leader in trusted electronic payment solutions, and Callpay, an innovative provider of secure payment technology for contact centres, have collaborated to provide a payment solution that offers secure, telephonic payments.

Through this collaboration, Callpay’s patent-pending payment platform will enable PayU’s clients to accept card payments through their contact centre agents without the agent hearing or seeing any sensitive card data. The customer enters their payment card numbers on the keypad of their phone, and by using DTMF capture and masking technology, the keypad tones are silenced so that the card numbers cannot be heard or identified.

Also, no sensitive card data is ever stored by the merchant or call recordings, providing peace of mind and compliance throughout. This leaves the contact centre agent free to continue the conversation with the customer while the payment is being made.  There is also an automated cloud IVR option available to collect transaction information without any contact centre agents viewing or hearing any sensitive customer data, but allowing the agent to monitor the payment progress in real-time and enter back into the call with the customer once payment is completed.

The solution integrates efficiently with most contact centres and both PayU and Callpay are PCI Level 1 compliant and certified in accordance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).  The solution works seamlessly with PayU’s comprehensive payment processing, reporting and fraud monitoring system.  JP van der Spuy, CEO of Callpay, stated, “We are looking forward to working with PayU to provide a comprehensive offering for contact centres in South Africa. PayU’s payment expertise is complemented by our own experience in secure telephone payments.

This is a great opportunity for the two companies to join forces and offer merchants a secure multi-channel payment solution.” PayU South Africa’s COO, Johan Dekker, added: “PayU is excited to work with Callpay in deploying this game-changing contact centre technology, as it perfectly synergises with our more-than 25 payment products and services in the local market. We are looking forward to a relationship that ultimately adds more security and peace of mind for our customers.”
