Kwikspace supplies fit-for-purpose rental units for 15 000 people in just six weeks

Kwikspace, Africa’s largest manufacturer and supplier of prefabricated modular buildings,  was instrumental in ensuring sufficient work, leisure, and accommodation space for 15 000 contract workers to carry out plant maintenance from 31 August to 30 September 2021. 509 fit-for-purpose relocatable modular buildings, comprising offices, accommodation, ablution facilities, locker rooms, and dining and recreation rooms, were tailor-designed and delivered to site ‘plug-and-play’ ready in just six weeks.

“Given the project scope and the constantly changing variables like building quantities, applications, and delivery dates, even with immense resources at our disposal, our team achieved a remarkable feat in completing the scope of work in time and to every single specification,” says Claude Naidoo, Kwikspace Sales Manager, Rentals Division.

“Not every company operating in this space has the resources, logistics, and industry know-how to achieve success on this scale,” adds Petru Le Roux, Account Manager, Kwikspace. “Our capacity to deliver significant volumes in extremely tight turnaround times is achievable only through the commitment and dedication of Kwikspace personnel, the vast resources we have at our disposal, the relationships we develop with our own service & product providers, and our clients’ key personnel.”

Safety and customer service

Naidoo says that the company’s 90% safety score also gives Kwikspace a competitive edge. “This is definitely a feather in our cap, especially when providing solutions to large plants that rely on health & safety adherence to ensure ongoing plant operations.”

Another factor that Naidoo considers instrumental in Kwikspace’s ability to service clients of any size in any industry – and for practically any space requirements – is the company’s adaptability and commitment to customer service. “We adapt our process flows to suit the requirements and expectations of our client at any given time. In fact, for this client, we established processes tailored specifically to help meet all requirements for the annual year-end shutdown.”

Kwikspace has been the preferred supplier of temporary space solutions for this annual project for 22 years – a testament to the company’s philosophy of nurturing customer relationships.

Flexibility is key

Larger projects demand a problem-solving mindset, flexibility, as well as careful planning and collaboration with customers to ensure seamless project fulfilment without bottlenecks or delays. “There are so many variables to consider in projects of this scope and some of them have the potential to change on an hourly basis,” Naidoo explains. “Our flexibility is a benefit we bring to our clients, which is made possible by our ability to quickly add and redistribute resources that enable the exact, timeous, and effective execution of all projects,” notes Naidoo.

“This requires a lot of shapeshifting,” Le Roux adds, “which means we have more than one plan when it comes to delivery and siting. This allows us to make alternate arrangements exceptionally quickly should the need arise.”

Both Le Roux and Naidoo concur that the Kwikspace team is committed to doing whatever it takes to deliver functional, aesthetic space tailored to client requirements, fast. “Our ability to quickly find and implement necessary resources comes from years of industry experience, and long-standing relationships with a variety of service providers,” Naidoo opines.

Enhanced offering through continuous improvement

Naidoo points out that repeated contracts, like this plant shutdown, for example, play a key role in Kwikspace enhancing its building offering. “Not only do they add to our project experience, but also play a role in our development of building accessories. Meeting our clients’ varying requirements helps us to develop niche space solutions, which are then rolled out for use in other industries.”

“Our success is all about continuous development and continuous improvement, as well as practically considering our client’s detailed requirements and ensuring that we meet them all,” Naidoo concludes. To meet the clients  ongoing space requirements, Kwikspace opened a satellite branch near its premises, positioning the company to provide a dedicated service that meets all the client’s requirements in the fastest possible turnaround time.
