Trellidor sponsors SHOUT app for Windows 8

The SHOUT SA app for Windows 8 is now available for free download from the Microsoft app store thanks to co-sponsors Trellidor and Microsoft SA and Cytrus who was responsible for the development.  The application is part of SHOUT’s campaign for a safer South Africa and is packed full of useful crime-fighting information for users.

“The SHOUT app was designed as a tool for crime-conscious South Africans that want to do something positive about this problem that invades our everyday lives.  It gives us important information that we can use proactively, and tools to interact with like-minded people within our communities,” said Trellidor Sales and Marketing Director Peter Rawson.

The app’s key features include location-based crime reporting; dynamic map representation; location-based emergency phone numbers; and social media integration.

Some of the functions are:

  • Crime Hotspot notification
  • Crime search
  • Report a crime
  • SOS alert
  • Social media sharing
  • Download the SHOUT soundtrack
  • Make a donation

SHOUT is an NGO that raises funds to help fight crime in South Africa.  Musicians Kabelo and Danny K started it after the murder of music legend Lucky Dube, with the intention of supporting projects that help prevent crime in our country.

The SHOUT SA app is part of that initiative.  It was developed initially by Cytrus for Android, sponsored by Samsung; then for BlackBerry, sponsored by RIM.  This latest development for Windows 8 was co-sponsored by Microsoft SA and Trellidor.

“We felt there was natural synergy between Trellidor, Microsoft SA, SHOUT SA and Cytrus in that we’re all committed to making positive moves towards a safer life for all instead of just passively complaining about the crime statistics and the apparent lack of improvement,” said Rawson. The app is also available for Blackberry and Android users.
