UK-based RPA pioneer Blue Prism, US data science firm Qualetics to exhibit at AI Expo Africa 2020

Robotic Process Automation (RPA) pioneer and market leader Blue Prism, together with US-based data science firm Qualetics have signed up as sponsors and exhibitors at AI Expo Africa 2020.

AI Expo Africa is Africa’s largest artificial intelligence (AI), data science and RPA trade-focused show and conference. The third edition of the show, which this year will be held as a virtual event, will take place on 3 and 4 September.

Besides making the show more inclusive, the new format will make it easier for African startups and innovators to join the event as well as new companies seeking a market in the region from Europe, the America’s, Middles East and Asia to find new customers and distribution partners.

Blue Prism has come onboard AI Expo Africa 2020 as a Diamond sponsor. The firm develops digital workforces for enterprise – which are available in the cloud, on-premise or as integrated Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution – which automate complex end-to-end processes that drive digital transformation.

Qualetics joins the show as a Startup sponsor. The company provides an on-demand Data Intelligence as a Service (DiaaS) platform that helps businesses build, accelerate and adopt AI in quick time without high investments.

In addition to these two international firms, three South African startups – 3DIMO, Raphta, and Ubiquity AI – have also secured participation at AI Expo Africa 2020 through sponsorship from the French Embassy in South Africa and the Technology Innovation Agency.

3DIMO has developed an automated livestock data analytics and modelling platform. Raphta offers world-class pioneering computer vision, facial recognition and imaging technology. Ubiquity AI has over six years commercial experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) as the first data-at-rest social analytics consultancy in Africa and the Middle East. The startup has developed Simone, a chatbot which it claims to be the world’s first debt intermediator.

The French Embassy, which has also joined AI Expo Africa 2020 as a sponsor, will this year host an Innovation Wall as well as a dedicated French Pavilion which will showcase multiple French AI and Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) startups.

The initial AI Expo Africa 2020 speaker line-up is led by Kay Firth-Butterfield, Head of AI and Machine Learning at the World Economic Forum; Neil Sahota, IBM Master Inventor, UN AI expert and lecturer at University of California, and Fred Werner, Head of Strategic Engagement at the International Telecommunication Union, and Bayo Adekanmbi, CTO MTN Nigeria and founder of Data Science Nigeria.

Other confirmed keynote speakers now include; South Africa’s Minister of Communications, Telecommunications and Postal Services Stella Tembisa Ndabeni-Abrahams; Prof Tshilidzi Marwala, and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Johannesburg and Deputy Head of the 4IR Commission of South Africa.

The speaker line up also includes enterprise executives from SAP, Vodacom, UiPath, Microsoft, Standard Bank, Oracle and ABSA. Entrepreneurs and thought leaders from Genesys, Ashanti AI, FinChatBot, Zindi, FIRtech, Future Fragment, and WizzPass will also be present in the virtual exhibition hall with its eBooth functionality – offering sponsors, vendors and service providers a means to interact with delegates and showcase or demo their offerings just as they would in a face-to-face trade show.

Nick Bradshaw, co-founder of AI Media Group curators of AI Expo Africa stated, “Our move to online was naturally prompted by the COVID global pandemic crisis but there is massive upside to the online format we are using. Most people think online events are just webinars but the iVent conference platform we are using is a “digital twin” of a traditional conference including a four track speaking programme, virtual expo hall, poster zone, AI4Good zone youth zone and networking areas. It also allows us to reach so many more people and try new formats with new communities – it’s a very exciting opportunity for speakers, sponsors and delegates alike.”

Blue Prism, 3DIMO, Raphta, Qualetics, Predictive Insights and Ubiquity join a growing list of thought leaders and companies that have engaged with the AI Expo Africa community. AWS, Microsoft, Google Cloud, IBM, PWC, Kenyan Government, ITU, Nvidia, Intel, SA Government, Dimension Data, UiPath, Blue Prism, Vodacom, Hikvision, SAP, SAS, Telkom, Deloitte, Accenture, EY, Persistent Systems, ABSA and Standard Bank have all been part of the community as the show grows into the next decade.

Roy Bannister, co-founder of AI Media Group and Director of AI Expo Africa 2020 Show Production, concluded, “We are aiming for 1,000 to 2,000 registered delegates for the two-day live show (3-4 September) and 5,000 to 10,000 for the 30 day Re-Live show which runs thereafter. The Re-Live aspect of the show is a new feature for 2020 and will be a great learning experience for young engineers, schools, colleges, universities and entrepreneurs. It’s a truly pan-African and global platform this year and a great first step into the 4IR business, innovation and startup community in Africa.”
